    Pre-Diabetes - A Serious Condition

Pre-diabetes, is a new word coined by the American Diabetes Association, to describe the condition that occurs when a person's blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes. Pre-diabetes does not mean you will definitely develop Type 2 diabetes, but it does mean you have a higher likelihood than others of developing the disease.

  • A fasting blood glucose of less than 126 mg/dL or equal or greater than 110 mg/dL is indicative of pre-diabetes. Normal fasting blood glucose is less than 110 mg/dL.

  • Numerous studies have found that people with pre-diabetes could prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes by up to 58 percent through modest weight loss and physical activity.
